Just in case you haven't heard, The Mist by Stephen King is coming out this November. The 21st of November to be precise. Right on time for the Thanksgiving movie goers. I suppose a good thriller is something to be grateful for this season. After all, when was the last time we were all scared silly, in a good intense sort of way? Not the gory scared either.
Remember "Rose Red?" The house with a murderous history that kept repeating itself, so to speak. The wife of a Seattle millionaire haunts the chilling mansion and will only rest after construction on the place is finished. Guess what? The house keeps adding rooms onto itself. And Rose Red likes to trap people inside. A very clever thriller that will leave you rather breathless. I don't know why I do this to myself, but every time "Rose Red" is slated to be played on television or cable I surrender to its appeal and watch it all over again. I scare myself for at least a few days afterwards.
In any case, The Mist by Stephen King looks quite intriguing. It's got a crazy cool cast too: can't go wrong with Thomas Jane (The Punisher), Laurie Holden and Andre Braugher to name but a few. They are all stuck together inside a supermarket when a mysterious mist engulfs their whole town. Trust me, I've driven through such a mist and your mind can play nasty tricks on you. Except, of course, Mr. King's "tricks" happen to be real and no doubt a little wicked. Or perhaps it's all about how mere humans can stick together in a life-threatening situation and help each other out . . . or NOT! Check the official movie site out for the trailer and decide for yourself. No foo foo movie to enjoy this Thanksgiving season. Man up!
So after the turkey is gobbled up, the pumpkin pie devoured and the apple cider sipped, take the family out for a good scare. Cancel the trip to the movie if it gets too misty. I'm just sayin'.
