November has officially started the quest for Alzheimer awareness. A worthy cause, one would think. And a perfect holiday gift, I would say then, is a free confidential memory screening on November 13, 2007. The Alzheimer's Foundation of America has come together with other organizations and health care professionals to offer these screenings as well as follow up resources and helpful educational materials. I for one would suggest to take advantage of this, especially if you are concerned about memory loss. You can find a screening site here. It's very important to detect Alzheimer's and related diseases early--this test will help.
At any rate, also available is information on successful aging which is a very interesting, not to mention a must-read. Here's something good for the memory--the secret is to prevent, or at least slow down, the loss of brain cells and learn how to let the remaining brain cells function well. Sounds like a wonderful plan, don't you agree? So please do study the Successful Aging Tips and by all means, spread the word. A healthy body, mind and spirit is something we all should aim for.
Furthermore, while the AFA is urgently seeking a cure for Alzheimer's they know that quality care for those who suffer from this horrible disease cannot be overlooked. As always it is up to us to make our contributions, both financially and with our time. Contributions are not only appreciated, I'm sure, but just a very good idea. Remember this November as Alzheimer's Awareness Month. Here's to our health.
