If there was a chance to eventually own the place that you were renting, more of us would be living a nice little dream. Unfortunately, there's probably not much chance of that happening. At least not in the US. Though I have heard, that once upon a time in the UK, renting to own was a possibility. These days, I guess the task has been a little more difficult for our British friends. However, mortgage companies are now offering better First Time Buyer Mortgage packages, so to speak.
The average down payment/deposit is a mere 5% or a low 3%. I'm thinking that it might be a good deal. Some companies have even invited the parents of first-time buyers to put their house up for collateral in lieu of any kind of down payment. Interesting proposition I must say. In any case, your first home should be exciting and a nice investment.
