Our Time To Care

Well I must say that when I first saw Mom's friend sitting at our dinner table I had no idea what Alzheimer's was all about. She was so quiet, timid but almost scared of her surroundings, and definitely drifted off into her own world. I thought it had something to do with memory loss. This is true, yet I didn't know just how much this loss affected their lives.

Recently I was given the opportunity to watch a beautifully produced DVD, "Your Time to Care" which, by the way, you can purchase at the AFA website. Of course, I would also encourage you to buy a pretty bracelet or necklace perhaps, from their exclusive jewelry collection for a holiday gift. All proceeds benefit the Alzheimer's Foundation of America. What better way to give this season? Their mission is to provide quality care for quality of life to those who suffer from Alzheimer's.

In any case, I watched "Your Time to Care" with a few tears and found out a lot more than I expected. Did you know that those who suffer with Alzheimer's can, and probably will, forget simple tasks such as eating, swallowing, drinking or bathing. How about forgetting how to talk or understanding a conversation? These tasks we take for granted have become a constant cause for concern for these people and they will need someone to take care of them.

There is so much more to learn. If I may, I would suggest to please purchase this DVD especially if you are a caregiver or you know someone who is. "Your Time to Care" will open your eyes and take away your fears at the same time. I guess knowledge is always our best weapon, so to speak.

This season be thankful for your health and take time to care. Merry Christmas.
